Samdech Techo Hun Sen Has Not Softened His Stance to Beg Thailand to Open the Border with Thailand on October 20 as Reported
Senate spokesman, Mr. Chea Thireth, rejected the statement made today by Mr. Surasan Kongsiri, the spokesman for Thailand's Ministry of Defence, who claimed that Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, had pressured Thailand to open the border checkpoint on October 20.
It should also be noted that previously, Samdech Techo has repeatedly affirmed his stance and also published it on his official Facebook page as recently as September 23, 2025, stating, "Since the Thai military unilaterally closed the border, Cambodia has never asked the Thai side to reopen the checkpoint; we simply told the Thai side that (Thailand closed it, Thailand must open it, there is no need to negotiate with Cambodia, and Cambodia will open afterwards, at most five hours later)." Cambodia's stance will not change, and Cambodia will not stoop so low as to beg for the border checkpoint to be opened. Thailand can continue to close it even for 100 more years, and Cambodia will not perish".
